Jesse J. Holland

Jesse Holland is associate director of the School of Media & Public Affairs at George Washington University. He is a former Distinguished Visiting Scholar in Residence at the John W. Kluge Center of the Library of Congress and a former Distinguished Visiting Professor of Ethics in Journalism at the University of Arkansas. His nonfiction books are the classic “Black Men Built the Capitol: Discovering African American History In and Around Washington, D.C.,” and “The Invisibles: The Untold Story of African American Slaves In The White House.” His fiction works include “Black Panther: Who Is the Black Panther?” and “Star Wars: The Force Awakens - Finn's Story.” He also served as editor and a contributor to the “Black Panther: Tales of Wakanda” and “Captain America: The Shield of Sam Wilson” prose anthologies. Before entering academics, he was a Race and Ethnicity writer for The Associated Press and was recognized as one of the few reporters credentialed to cover all three branches of American government during his career: the White House, the Supreme Court and Congress. He also teaches creative nonfiction in the Master of Fine Arts in Creative Nonfiction program at Goucher College in Towson, Md. He is the former host of weekend editions of C-SPAN’s Washington Journal.  Holland is a graduate of the University of Mississippi and earned a Master of Fine Arts in creative nonfiction writing from Goucher College. He lives in Bowie, Md.
