Ole Miss journalism professor Alysia Steele talks about her new book of photography dealing with Delta church mothers. She will discuss the extraordinary stories of these women and display the scenes she captured of dignity and character in an impoverished region. (The photos are to be featured in Southern Living in May, shortly before the publication of the book.)

"JUSTICE IS A BLACK WOMAN"   Wednesday, September 3
A documentary about the life of Constance Baker Motley, who represented James Meredith during his struggle to win admission to the University of Mississippi and went on to become the first African-American female federal judge. Producer Gary Ward will take part in a discussion following the screening. The program is sponsored by the university's College of Liberal Arts, School of Law, Overby Center, Office of the Provost and the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College.

Ole Miss baseball coach Mike Bianco talks with radio analyst Keith Kessinger about his 2014 Rebel team that advanced deep into the College World Series in Omaha in June. The veteran coach will also review prospects for coming season.

Overby Fellow Curtis Wilkie discusses his new book, a collection of 50 stories taken from his long career as a newspaper reporter covering the civil rights movement, national politics, conflicts in the Middle East and unique tales in the South, with Charles Overby. The book is being published by the University Press of Mississippi.

"THE TOUGHEST JOB: WILLIAM WINTER'S MISSISSIPPI"   Tuesday, October 7
The former governor and his lasting impact will be the subject of a new work by the university's Southern Documentary Project and director Matthew Graves, detailing Winter's role in racial reconciliation and his determination to improve education during troubled times in the state. Winter's long-time aide and associate, David Crews, served as producer. Winter, himself, will participate in a discussion afterwards.

Thomas Healy, author of a book dealing with Oliver Wendell Holmes and raising questions about "Free Speech in America," talks with Charles Overby, who served for years as CEO of one of the nation's leading guardians of the First Amendment, the Freedom Forum.

On the eve of the Ole Miss-Tennessee game, Justin Connolly and Stephanie Druley of the new SEC Network and Charlie Hussey of the Southeastern Conference at the Overby Center with Others involved in the launch of the network talk about their plans to revolutionize coverage of sports in the Southeastern Conference.
